Edward E.
Private tutor in Manila, Philippines
Education
I hold a bachelor's degree in English from Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila. Having majored in English, I am particularly interested in English language teaching (ELT), world Englishes, English linguistics, and academic writing. At present, I am studying linguistics leading to a master's degree at University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
Experience
To improve my knowledge on my academic interests, I've attended various seminars-- specifically, 2015 Free Linguistics Conference, Writing 101 & 102 with Dr. Paul Kei Matsuda at DLSU, and Contemporary English Grammar (a two-week classroom training about how English is used by its speakers presently and related studies) held at UST Graduate School, to name a few. Moreover, back in college, I was a delegate to the annual university-wide academic contests who represented my college at spelling quiz bee and bagged the first prize. Also, the reason why I would like to teach students what I know is that I learn from them too, and I will use what I've learned from my students to improve my teaching style to suit to their rapidly changing needs because I believe that self-assessment is a key to understanding learners' needs.
