Education

Ateneo de Manila University - M.A. in Japanese Studies, Major in Japanese History (2020) | University of the Philippines - B.A. in Communication (2014)| International Christian University (Japan) Japanese Language (2016-2017)

Experience

I actually started teaching in Ateneo de Manila University last 2017, but I had to stop because I went to Japan for a language exchange program. I went back to the Philippines in 2018. Since then, I have been teaching in Ateneo subjects, such as social sciences (the contemporary world) and basic Japanese language, to undergraduate students and professionals. Since my master's degree (Japanese Studies) is an area studies, aside from history, I also learned about sociology, social sciences, politics, and economics. My thesis is about the representation of women in media in Japan, which enabled me to incorporate what I learned in my undergraduate years. I have also recently published a journal article related to sociology and I am currently writing two research papers--one in history (I am converting my thesis into a journal article) and another in sociology.

Hobbies

I have picked up tutoring this pandemic as my side job. I prefer tutoring online via Zoom. I am a bit of a nerd, but I am happiest when I see that my students learn from me. Studying should not be a chore. Thus, I believe that the greatest way to teach students is to befriend them and to learn their studying habits and passion. The most important thing in teaching is compassion. I incorporate teaching techniques in which I think will be the best and most fun way for students to learn.

My research interests are Japanese Studies, Cultural History, Gender and Propaganda, Comparative Studies, and Social Policy.

My life interests are teaching, playing with my furkid named Kyubi (I am a dog mom), reading books (a Rick Riordan fan!), studying Japanese, and watching anime (too many to mention).
