Experience
I strive to become a licensed High School teacher in Germany and thus am very passionate about teaching/tutoring. The following will pertain to my teaching/tutoring experiences and qualifications: I tutored elementary school children (Grade 1-4) as part of an after-school program. I also did home-based tutoring for High School students and prepared them for their final exams. Aside from my occupation as a student, I worked at an organization, Joblinge GmbH Frankfurt, which connects young adults (18 years and up), wishing to pursue a vocational job and job training, to prospective companies. There, I worked as an English language instructor in a classroom-based setting. In this same company, I also worked as a German language instructor as part of the company's refugee programme in order for them to join Germany's workforce. In regards to my language proficiency, I was born in Germany to a Filipino mother and American father and was raised in Germany and underwent the German education system until my graduate studies. Hence, I am a native speaker of English and German, which, truthfully speaking, was positively supplemented during my time at the university My degree in education enabled me to learn of didactic approaches to teaching my subjects, English and History. In addition to my subjects, educational sciences which for example entailed student psychology and development of a teacher personality acted as a supplementation to the former. Also, my course of study required me to complete a 15-week internship at a German High School. I was able to implement newly acquired knowledge and test my teaching skills in grades 5-12. Academically, I was awarded the Calliopean Prize 2018 for the best thesis by my university's Institute for English and American Studies Callipoean Society for my work "Emerson and the Abolitionist Movement after 1850" which focuses on important developments of American history during the pre-Civil War period.
